Big Boy is the tallest tree on Sandy Trail in Innisfil Ontario.
30 years ago he was tapped for Maple Sap and produced a great amount of Maple Syrup and sugar.
He is the first tree to be added to Treesbase and one of the first six to recieve a physical Growth Certificate, which can be seen above.
On one occasion he projected faces in his bark on a day when I had gone a number of days without sleep.
One day during a sunrise I saw what looked like my face (A bearded man) in the top branches in the leafs as well.
A song which I listen to with him sometime is Ain’t a Bad Life which features the lyrics “Ain’t a Bad Life for a Good Old Boy.”
When I played this song by Big Boy on the first occasion I found it playing over and over in my head for the rest of the day.
A phenomenon I have experienced in the past is different songs coming to mind around different trees and as I walk through the woods I have experienced a shifting soundtrack as I enter different sections of the Bailey Ecological Park in Newmarket so I feel there is often a direct correlation between the trees and the tunes.
Here’s the song for your listening pleasure:
