Treesbase is a database about trees which can help you grow your family network of trees.

Trees have changed my life. Years ago I found myself without a place to sleep away from home. I went to the woods. Even though there was snow on the ground I made a place for myself to sleep and found a patch of Evergreens where I set myself up.

I ripped out dry hey from the surrounding area to make a sleeping spot and brought in a few blankets. And I connected with nature in an amazing way.

To this day I still camp in the location I found from time to time, where I have pruned dozens of dry branches for the trees and raked the area extensively. And I have camped a number of places in the nearby woods as well.

My connection with nature became so strong I found myself spending months of my life living outdoors and helping trees in the woods.

I made rakes out of branches. And found a branch to use for a metal shovel head I found.

Since then I have helped well over 100 trees by raking for them, pruning dry branches and burning literal fields of dry brush, pines, and tines over many nights. This year alone I have had over 25 fires and filmed 21 for my YouTube channel Lit Bonfires.

One realization I had is naming a tree can help create a closer bond with them. Trees can communicate visually by projecting some of the light they absorb from the Sun and these manipluations of shadow and light are no less than amazingly beautiful.

Witnessing fields of trees projecting scenery for me is a life changingly profound experience and I know if more people experienced something similar more trees would be planted and cared for with fewer cut down.

I only have two hands but my hope is by sharing my network of trees and encouraging others to share theirs I will be able to facilitate more trees being loved, cared for, planted and named.

Canada has a symbol of a tree at the heart of our flag and we need more people bonding in the woods and around the hearths of the world. I also intend to build a database of camping and bonfire locations.

Trees are members of Canada also which is why I have developed Growth Certificates. Like Birth Certificates for humans, Growth Certificates share core information about trees and physically provide them with a card and digital page on our site where people can share stories about them or register different names.
